Sarah Baulch Art Gallery 2026

March 6th-22nd: My Hair and me

An invited Artists Group Show open to all Genders in time to celebrate international Women’s Day. Work will be 3D, Collage, Photography, Paintings and Drawings. There will be a Performance Shorts Festival on 8/03/26. Directed by Dystin Johnson with Assistant Director Alex Turner. Expect Plays, Poems, Monologues and other adventures. Sarah Baulch will launch her Art book ‘What did I lose?’ concerning her journey through Chemotheraphy in 2018 at this event. Proceeds to Macmillan Cancer.

April 8th-26th: Other East Kent Artists

Organised and curated by Dan Bass, this exhibition will be a sideways look at art being made by people working in and around Thanet.

May 8th-24th: In celebration of trees

Caroline Wright, Garry Parsons, Steve White and Justin Gilday make works meditating on how we view, think, love, destroy, understand and misunderstand our trees. There will be through 2D & 3D works: paintings; collage; books; natural sculptures with life size solid silver sculptures of the insects who inhabit them; sculpted pieces of much loved saved trees and life size drawings suspended from the rafters of the churches roof.

June 5th-28th: A Canterbury Collective

Clive Soord and Lindsay West will be curating this show. Bringing the world of the cathedral city to the coast. They have a deep connection to ceramics, the world of raku, the mechanisation of art, sculpture and, perhaps the absurd. There will be up to ten Artists involved, with site specific works for the church.

July 10th-August 2nd: Sanctuary

Nicolas Cobb and Sarah Baulch alongside The Tread Collective will be exploring places, journeys, objects and the spaces we declare as sanctuary. The centre piece will be an 8 metre high cardboard tower symbolising a Roman tower that pilgrims from Canterbury once walked to. The journey taken will be reflected, amongst other things, by imagined environments, bundles of objects collected on walks and an installation about arrival by sea.

August 15th-31st: Kiss me Quick

A celebration of the glory of seaside living in all its forms. An Open sponsored by Herne Bay Festival for everyone to enter and get to see their work displayed in the Gallery. No judgement, no fees and no prizes this exhibition builds on the success of the 2025 Open Our Coast, which over 100 Artists, Makers and Designers took part in.

September 11th-4th October: The Estuary

Whitstable Artists such as Bruce Williams take over the space for a wild and windswept look at living by the sea. Expect paintings, sculptures and murals soaring to the skies.

October 10th-25th: East Kent Open House Artist Trail

Six Herne Bay Artists take over six spaces within the Gallery to show works created specifically for this show. The trail features around 250 Artists throughout East Kent and has been going for over 20 years. You can see works by Garry Parsons, Sarah Baulch & David Riley amongst others at the Gallery. It takes place over the last three weekends and two weeks of the month.

November 12th-29th: All that Glitters

Makers, Artists and Designers will create works around this theme for a show celebrating the season. There will be paintings, Christmas baubles, homewares, cards, gifts and stocking fillers for your loved (and unloved ones) at this time of year.

December 4th-20th: A stitch in time

A textile show with a focus on pieces by the PEG (Profanity Embroidery Group) Artists from Whitstable, in their own right, not necessarily a Collective. Although we are expecting their Patchwork workshops around the theme of Confessions, taking place and displayed in a more private space at the church.

Local, Contemporary & Professional

Our Passion is to showcase local Artists and Maker's, who have a focus on the Environment in the work they produce.

Our Love is that Art which questions, covers new territory, or is made from the discarded, draws the viewer in and makes them look twice.

Our joy is working with Artists who produce their work tirelessly, almost obsessively.

Then collaborating with them when they are ready and  putting on a show.  We offer help and support, ensuring our Artists work looks at its best when the exhibition is complete. Creating a welcoming atmosphere for Visitors, sharing the joy we feel about our Artists and their work is the most important part of what we do.
