MIMS Music
MIMS (Music in Mortimer Street) is a not-for-profit community group bringing live music to the heart of Herne Bay. Run by a dedicated team of seven volunteers, over the past 15 years MIMS has grown into a thriving concert series, hosting up to 20 performances each year at the church. From classical and choral to jazz and contemporary, these concerts showcase a rich variety of musical styles, attracting audiences and, over the years, contributing more than £20,000 to support the venue’s upkeep. With its stunning acoustics and welcoming atmosphere, the venue provides the perfect setting for high-quality live performances that keep music at the centre of the community.​
MIMS is all about making music accessible to everyone. Every August, it hosts free lunchtime concerts as part of the Herne Bay Festival, giving people of all ages the chance to experience live performances. Seasonal favourites like the Christmas and Remembrance concerts bring the community together, while emerging musicians are given a platform to perform alongside established artists. At the heart of it all is the historic 1913 organ, which often serves as a concert highlight. Thanks to the passion of its volunteers and the support of local music lovers, MIMS is keen to contribute towards the vision of Bay Unite, to thrive as a vibrant hub for music and community spirit.
